I look at the treasure mound getting smaller as Rose and Nogg continue looting it. Not that we get all of it as most of it is just for show. Still, plenty to go around. “Well, load up, everybody. Our guild’s treasure chest is about to get swole!”

Once we have the loot all stashed, we activate our teleportation stones and return to Dawnshire. I look around at my party and feel a growing sense of pride. “Guys, I just want to thank you for everything you’re doing to help me get Graydon’s sight back, and to make sure King’s League doesn’t fall under the control of the bad guys.”

Spyce looks like she is resisting the temptation to roll her eyes. “You’re so dramatic, Dirk. Helping you helps us, so it’s all good. But if it makes you feel better, you’re welcome.”

“It does actually,” I say, unable to hold back a smile.

She returns it. “Thanks for the good times, Lady and Gents, but I have to rack out for a while. Got real life stuff to catch up on tomorrow.”

“Indeed,” Stoneburner says, then shifts to Daniel. “I’ll be out for a day or so. The wife has a honey-do list longer than my arm.”

That makes me laugh. “Better get on it then.” Spyce and Stoneburner exit the temple to go wherever they park their avatars when not logged in. I guess Stoneburner keeps his at the forge like I keep mine at the temple. I don’t have a clue about Spyce, and part of me wishes that I did.

Nogg and Rose are quiet, and I think that they just logged out without saying goodbye until I notice their avatars’ hands out in front of them typing into virtual keyboards. There is something going on with those two.

I clear my throat loudly, and their avatars jerk as they give a little start. “Well, I guess I’ll be logging off now. You two crazy kids have fun and shut the door when you leave, okay?”

“Uh, yeah,” Nogg says. “See you tomorrow at the office.”

“You guys have an office?” Rose asks.

“Rose, we have our own company,” I say proudly. “And Nogg, or as we call him in the real world—”

“Brian,” Rose finishes.

“Right. As I was saying, Brian here is the Vice President, head of marketing, and chief cook and bottle washer. Did I leave anything out?”

Nogg cocks an eyebrow at me. “I think my official title is RHM. Right Hand Man. I’m thinking of putting it on my business cards.”

That gives us all a good chuckle.

I decide that’s enough teasing for today. “Okay, see you guys later. Don’t stay out too late. You have meetings tomorrow.”

“Okay, mom,” Nogg says.

I give them a wink and log out.
